Resumen:
This work is concerned with experimental data and numerical modelling of vibrations effects on building induced by rhythmic jumping of a cheering crowd on the ground surface in the course of music festivals. Both near field and far-field experimental data concerning the amplitude and frequency content of the jump-induced surface waves are presented and discussed in connection with the assessment and prediction of vibrations induced on high-rise residential buildings. Numerical modelling of the transmission path and its calibration based on in-house vibration measurements are shown to provide a reasonably accurate simulation of structural response. The results are also discussed in connection to the applicability of current standards and their descriptors as regulatory framework for such activities.
