Resumen:
We present the design, synthesis and structural resolution by single-crystal X-ray diffraction of a new mebendazolium dihydrogenphosphate salt. We synthesized this salt by dissolving a sample of mebendazol (MBZ) in methanol with an exceses of orthophosphoric acid, and the recristalizing the drug by slow solvent evaporation. The new solid crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/c (14) space group. Both ions assemble together in the solid state through a R22 (8) supramolecular motif stabilized by hydrogen bonds. Other classic and non-classic hydrogen bonds participate in the stabilization of the crystal packing. We are currently performing the additional characterization of this new material by complementary solid-state techniques in order to evaluate its thermal stability, its stability in solution and its dissolution profile.
