Resumen:
High Strength Steel Fiber Reinforced Concretes are new constructionmaterials having high strength, fracture toughness and ductility and for thisreasons they are more and more used in special structures. Although manyaspects of their mechanical behavior have been investigated extensively, thestrain rate effects and their influence on structural strength remain largelyunknown. Consequently, many aspects related to the behavior under impact andblast loads aare still open. Although, some efforts have been focused onmodelling HSSFRC under extreme actions, constitutive models that properlyrepresent the material behavior under this kind of actions are still indevelopment. The capability of RHT model to simulate HSSFRC under high strain ratesis analyzed in this paper. The results of the numerical simulation oflaboratory tests under high strength and field blast tests performed withAUTODYN are presented and compared with experimental results and numericalresults obtained with a numerical model developed for research purposes. Somerecommendations for the use of models originally developed for concrete tosimulate HSSFRC under extreme actions are given as conclusions.
