Resumen:
The crack propagation phenomenon has been studied using different formulations like atomistic approaches , quasi-continuum formulations, extended or embedded finite element methods among others. In the context of fracture in polycrystals, the cohesive zone approach has been increasingly used by the engineering community due the capability to simulate large problems with a reasonably low computational effort. Some results of the intergranular fracture in polycrystals using a cohesive crack zone implemented in an augmented Lagrangian formulation are presented in this paper. It is shown that using Lagrange multipliers, the stress nucleation in the crack tip can be captured even with coarse meshes.
