Resumen:
Very little experimental information is available about the behaviour of prestressed concrete, thin walled open members under mixed torsion: i.e. combined Saint venant and warping torsion. This paper presents the results f eight prestressed concrete I-beams tested to failure under combined mixed torsion, bending and shear.Most available ultimate load methods of analysis and design of prestressed and reinforced concrete beams under torsion or combined torsion or combined torsion, bending and shear are based on the space truss analogy or the skew bending model. Experimental results have shown that these emthods undeerestimate considerable the utyimate load under mixed torsio. A simple method that accurately predicts the ultimate strength behaviour of prestressed concrete I-beams is proposed.
