Revision of the species described in Metriocnemus van der Wulp (Diptera: Chironomidae) by Edwards (1931), with the description of two new species

A revision is presented of the species described by Edwards in the genus Metriocnemus van der Wulp. The species M. fasciventris Edwards and M. griseovitattus are redescribed and the immatures of the former species are described for first time. Two new species of Metriocnemus, M. cavipenis sp. nov. and M. tucumanus sp. nov., are described and figured based on adult males. A key to Neotropical male imagines is provided and the phylogenetic relationships of the species of the genus Metriocnemus are discussed
