Session ProposalTitle: Discussing our physiological, biochemical or molecular studies on aquatic organisms exposed to environmental pollutants to improve the quality and the ecotoxicological sound of our research.Aim: To invite the LA scientific community to present their research studies focused on the assessment of adverse effects (physiological, histological, biochemical, molecular, etc.) induced by environmental pollutants on aquatic organisms and discuss them addressing some of the twelve ?Principles of Sound Ecotoxicology? proposed by Harris et al (2014) in ES&T:1. Adequate planning and good design of a study are essential2. Define the baseline3. Include appropriate controls4. Use appropriate exposure routes and concentrations5. Define the exposure6. Understand your tools7. Think about statistical analysis of the results when designing an experiment8. Consider the dose−response9. Repeat the experiment10. Consider confounding factors11. Consider the weight of evidence12. Report findings in an unbiased mannerThe idea is the participants present results from one or more of their studies discussing them not only from the biological findings themselves, but also reflexing on some of the above listed points. Lessons from made mistakes are also welcomed.Chairs: Gustavo Somoza & Pedro CarriquiribordeSession structure: We are proposing a half a day platform session. The main idea of this proposal is to include between 9 presentations of 20 min, 15 min for the presentations and 5 min for questions. After the presentations, a half-hour Round Table will be performed. However, this structure can be changed according to the structure of the general Meeting.
