Descripción:
Sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB) are present in many industrial processes and they cause a multitude of problems, such as contamination, corrosion, and clogging. Many processes occurring on metal surfaces, such as those related to transport of oil and water in pipelines, water treatment if municipal plants, separation of organic phases or dissolved organics using membranes, are highly damaged due to biocorrosion induced by this type of organisms and there are no solutions available up to date. Enzymatic degradation has previously been attempted for biofilm control with limited success because: 1) the complexity and diversity of biofilms was not recognized, and 2) high throughput screening was not attempted due to cost. Novozymes has a large portfolio of enzymes with many recent additions that are relevant for degradation of biofilm related fouling, and this may open for new opportunities.
