Resumen:
In this work, a novel magnetic nanosystem with capability to both, diagnostic and therapy of several inflammatory and oncologicaldiseases, named as well nanotheranostic, was designed. This is composed of magnetite nanoparticles as core and mannose as astrategic coating (MNPs). The incorporation of a natural therapeutic agent such as Morin was performed able to impart thetherapeutic function to the nanosystem. Characterization of the nanotheranostics in the different stages was developed using FTIR,XRD, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, TEM and atomic absorption spectroscopy to infer the nanotheranostic structure andcomposition. The incorporation of Morin was followed by UV visible spectroscopy, reaching an efficiency of 60% respect to the initialconcentration of the drug. That represents a loading capability of about 9mg of drug/100mg of MNPs. Besides, FTIR and z potentialdata confirmed the drug presence in the MNPs structure. The ability of nanotheranostics to generate contrast (T2) in magneticresonance imaging was verified by phantom assays developed in clinical MRI equipment. The release profile in simulated physiologicalmedium was evaluated.
