Increasing attention has been given to glycerol due to its growing availability as a consequence of biodiesel production worldwide [1]. Hydrogen generation through steam reforming (SR) reactions is an interesting method to join sustainability to energy generation. However the design of a suitable catalyst is still challenging due to the strong deactivation process under SR conditions [2]. In this contribution, multifunctional catalysts were designed where well dispersed basic sites ? obtained from a layered precursor ? along with metallic nanoparticles play a role on inhibiting undesired side reactions, which contribute to catalyst deactivation.
