Resumen:
Ethanol steam reforming with and without the presence of CaO as a CO2 sorbent is modeled using ASPEN PLUS process simulator. The simulations involve a steam reformer, a WGS reactor and a CO preferential oxidation reactor when working without CaO and a steam reformer and a COPROX in the presence of CaO. Using CaO the global efficiency is increased. Optimal operation conditions in the presence of CaO are (1) atmospheric pressure, (2) reactor temperatures between 550-700ºC, and (3) water/ethanol relation 4-6. The presence of CaO eliminates the need of a WGS reactor.
