Cooperative winemaking in the province of Mendoza results in a particular case in three senses: on the one hand, the delay in its development. On the other hand, because it nevertheless appears as a successful case, unless in relation to its importance within the sector. Finally, because its beginnings and later development do not seem to be associated with the causes of international literature is found for other countries.This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the evolution of wine cooperatives throughout the twentieth century and its relationship with business cycles and other relevant factors. In particular, the paper explores the reasons that led to the organization of this type of entities in the province of Mendoza from the administrative records of the entities that regulate the sector.
