In this work, we shall present some of the most powerful techniques developed for the characterization of photoconductors. After presenting briefly the conditions under which each experiment is performed, we shall describe the information gained with each technique and its advantages and drawbacks. We shall also underline that some experiments are complementary, either because they are sensitive to different transport parameters or because their combined use brings information on peculiar properties that could not be revealed if the techniques were employed separately.
