Resumen:
Introduction: Cold preservation plays a key role in intestinal transplantation, and it is one ofthe most explored fields, however the vast majority of the experimental studies work withliving donor (LD) excluding brain dead (BD), which is closer to clinical conditions as well asthe use of assisted ventilation (AV) which is a different scenario comparing to maskanesthesia in living donors .Our aim is to analyze histological differences between the use ofthese protocols in prolonged ischemia times. Methods: Wistar rats (n=15) were used divided in 3 groups: LD, AV, and BD. BD wasinduced and mantained for 2hs. AV group was mechanically ventilated for 2hs, and LD donorwas just anesthetized and explanted. Intestines were preserved in Custodiol® and sampledat 4, 8 and 12hs. Histological damage was evaluated using Park-Chiu scale. Allmorphometric variables such as Villi/Crypt Ratio (VCR), mucosal thickness (MT) and VilliDensity (VD) were handled using ImageJ®. Statistical analysis was assessed using two wayANOVA.Results: All the variables measured shows that time of preservation is more important thanthe donor condition (comparing all donor condition and ischemia times with each other)specially above 8hs of cold ischemia (p=
