The interest of historiography to prove documents and personal files is rather new. Christophe Prochasson has describe it as gluttony over the last 20 years, related to a course change in historiographic practice. This course change involves the importance gained by Cultural History, let's say the spread of works about intellectuals; and a change in the scale of social observances that has derived in an interest for non traditional and more qualitative sources such as correspondence or personal diaries. Throughout  this presentation I will refer to the experience of the Centro de Documentación e Investigación de la Cultura de Izquierdas en la Argentina (CeDInCI) in the training of  an area dedicated to recover and catalogue private archives.
