CATALYTIC ACTIVITY FOR THE ISOMERIZATION OF a-PINENE ON CATALYSTS Mo/ZrO2 AND W/ZrO2

Resumen:
Hydrated zirconium hydroxide was impregnated with two oxy-anions, tungstate and molybdate which was calcined afterwards at appropriate temperature and to produce Mox/ZrO2 and Wx/ZrO2 catalyst (x=% anion weight respectively). These materials were characterized by using gravimetric thermal analysis, X ray diffraction, FTIR of adsorbed ammonium and the catalytic activity was evaluated following a-pinene isomerization by gas chromatography. The results suggest that the catalytic activity observed in these materials correlates with the presence of tetragonal crystalline phase and the presence of Brönsted type acidity.
