Dinámica del fitoplancton y características limnológicas en dos estanques de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires

Between Sept. 1982 and Oct. 1983 (13 months in total) studies were conducted on the physical and chemical characteristics (i.e. transparency, pH, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, chlorides, nitrates and carbonates), and the fluctuations of the phytoplankton populations in two eutrophic ponds located in the city of Buenos Aires. the monthly biological changes recorded, especially variations of the specific diversity, were analysed in relation to the environmental parameters measured. One of the ponds was dominated by Chlorophyceae, with summer peaks of Golenkinia radiata, while in the other Cyanophyceae were dominant, with summer maxima of Microcystis aeruginosa. Lowest diversity values (<1 Shannon-Weaver) were recorded during the summer, coinciding with the blooms of some of the species.
