Resumen:
This paper aims to assess the relative weight of Education and Occupational Complexity in the determination of the cognitive performance of subject with MCI. 80 patients with MCI were assed with the following instruments: Questionnaire of Social Demographic Data, Occupational Complexity Questionnaire and a set of neuropsychological tests for Memory, Attention Language, Executive functions and Visuoconstruction. Results show that Occupational Complexity has a stronger weight than Education in some spheres of cognition like Vocabulary, Cognitive Flexibility and Visuoconstructive Skills; and Education has a stronger weight on: Abstract Reasoning and in a Vigilance and Sustained Attention Task. These results agree with other studies which identified the factors that promote healthy cognitive aging in older adults. Within the framework of cognitive reserve, occupational complexity and education play a differential and important role in the enhancement of cognitive abilities, being important buffers of cognitive deterioration in the aging process.
