Resumen:
In Argentina, the aquaculture is considered a non traditional activity. Introduction of exotic fish, which include ornamental fish, were sporadically carried out in the last decades of XIX century. At the beginning of the XX´s, the Argentinian Government implemented different policies in order to promote the recreational fishing, especially for salmonids, introducing eleven salmonid species between 1904 and 1931. The native fish Odontesthes bonariensis (Argentinian silverside) and Percichthys trucha (Perch) were also considered in those programs. Although parasite infection are common in wild environments, only nine parasite species have been reported in cultured freshwater fishes and 1 virus and 1 bacteria were reported in marine cultured fishes.
