Resumen:
José Luis Paredes Pacho and I used to have conversations about the knotty issues surrounding copyright and the interests involved; at the same time we observed that some of the solutions available were quite modest. What was the purpose of these solutions? To achieve a sort of equilibrium that had been lost in this area, whether in legal or technological terms. It seems highly pertinent that such discussions should be held in spaces such as the Chopo University Museum. It seems vitally important to that a laboratory should be established as a space for an ongoing dialogue over the conflicts of interest arising over the regulation of copyright and right to copy. Please therefore accept this contribution as astep towards a rethink of copyright and right to copy in the digital age. This involves dividing the topic into three areas: first, looking at the changes or impact on copyright of the digital age; second, discussing the nature of the property in question since the rights, technologies and the commons are substantially related to culture; and finally there follows a discussion of the differences that can exist between on the one hand the ?classical? conception of users, citizens and the general public who access intellectual works, and on the other the concept of availability. Specifically, I want to analyze the relationship that the concepts of access and availability have with democracy, and this must involve rights, technologies and the commons.
