This work presents the analysis of several alternatives to separate high purity Acetal (1,1-dietoxyethane) from the reaction mixture mainly made up from acetaldehyde, ethanol and water in presence of different entrainers. The analysis was performed with the process simulator HYSYS and it is demonstrated that both the way on which the reaction is carried out and the selection of the entrainer greatly influences the economy of the separation process.
