Resumen:
An expert system for the real time fault diagnosis of an styrene plant was developed. The goal is to advise the control room operator the possible causes of the plant failure and shut-down. A PLC is on charge of the plant control and shut-down. Many situations can cause the PLC action, and the expert system developed selects the most likely to ocurr such that the operator can take a quickly action.
