Aligning the Business Solution with the Technological Solution in the Development of B2B Collaboration

In the last years, new business models, which propose forms of carrying out cooperation and collaboration among enterprises in value-added networks, have arisen. These business models can be implemented through B2B collaborations. One important issue is how to develop the business and technological solutions of a B2B collaboration and guarantee the technological solution is consistent with and meets the requirements defined by the business solution. To provide a support to this issue, in this paper we describe an approach to align the business and technological solutions by applying a methodology for the development of B2B collaborations, which supports the modeling and specification of: the collaborative business processes that partners agree on, and the interface and integration business processes of each partner. We describe the stages to be carried and the methods, languages and techniques used from the analysis and design of collaborative processes up to the generation of the system interface specifications and business process specifications of each partner, which are required in order to execute collaborative processes. The application of this methodology is shown with a study case from the domain of the collaborative supply chain management.
