Resumen:
One of the main challenges in Business-to-Business settings is the management of the collaborative business processes that organizations jointly carry out with their trading partners. Several issues have to be addressed in the modeling and definition of collaborative processes. First, collaborative process models have to be independent of the technology, as the executable business process languages or the platforms for implementing collaborative processes. Second, visual modeling of collaborative processes through a well-known visual modeling language is required. Third, a suitable modeling approach has to be provided to fulfill the requirements of the B2B relationships, like enterprise autonomy, decentralization management, peer-to-peer interactions and negotiation support. To deal with these issues, in this work we propose a UML Profile that supports a modeling language based on UML 2. This UML Profile provides a visual modeling language independent of the technology for designing collaborative processes at a high abstraction level and it is based on a modeling approach consisting in the use of interaction protocols.
