Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) resembles central changes in aging-related vascular dementias and Alzheimer´s disease (AD). Our group has demonstrated, in vitro, that astroglial subtype 3 metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGlu3R) present protective actions against neurotoxic agents including A. However, contradictory results were reported when mGlu3R ligands were administered in vivoWe examined the effect of the mGlu3R agonist, LY376298 (LY) 1mg/kg i.p., in middle aged rats with CCH.
