Resumen:
Auxins (aux) are plant hormones involved in several developmental processes. Despite the extended knowledge about aux, important aspects of the molecular mechanisms this hormone acts remains uncertain. In the last years nitric oxide (NO) has been described as a signal molecule in plants. It has been demostrated that it could mediate the action of diverse phytohormones. The objetive of this work was to identify transcripts responsive to NO and aux. Five days old A thaliana. plants were treated with the NO donor SNP or aux (2,4 D). NO treated plants were subjected to a differential display assay. Seven cDNA differentially expressed in NO treated plants were detected. We selected a clone (AT04) and performed Northern blot experiments. AT04 was up-regulated in plants treated with aux. Sequencing revealed that AT04 presented homology at the nucleotide level with a maturase K (mat K). Maturases are proteins involved in the regulation of mRNA splicing. For its importance in the regulation at the post-transcriptional level, the role of maturases in auxin regulated gene expression is worth to be estudied. *These authors contributed equally to the present work
