The San Miguel del Monte pond is located at "Pampa Deprimida" (35´ 27´ 30" S, 58O 48´ W).The investigation was carried out during the period Sepl97-Ago198 monthly at two places of the pond (the deeper zone and the connection with Las Perdices pond) ant its main afnuent (El Totoral stream). The objective of this study was identifL the influences of the hydrological cycle in the dynamic of reactive soluble phosphorus (SRP), dissolved polyphenols, dissolved oxygen, pH and conductivity. The SRP values of the stream fluctuated between 37.3 and 135.3 pg. T´ while in the pond between 28.4 and 88.85 pg. T´, with an average of 87.26 and 36.62 pg. T´, respectively. The dissolved polyphenols ranged from 1.39 to 6.25 mg. I-´, in the stream and from 0.74 to 1.94 mg. 1-´ in the pond. The dissolved oxygen at the stream showed lower values than the pond, with minimum values at 11/97 (0.26 mg. I-´). The pH average values at the stream was 7.74 and at the pond 9.35. The highest value of conductivity at the stream was 4340 pS.cm" and the minimum was 695 pS. an-´. The conductivity at the pond ranged fiom 1220 to 2490 pS. cm´ ´. During flood period, the Salado River intrudes suddenly upwards through Las Perdices pond to San Miguel pond and cause changes in its physical and chemical characteristics (conductivity, SRP). In the pond the conductivity was also influenced by groundwater. The stream is more affect by events at its own basin than hydrological changes at Salado River.
