Resumen:
Fin Serck-Hanssen?s work interrogates the link between image, sound, and experience?especially those experiences that are fixed upon and within the body, like a scar, the effects of illnesses like Aids, hardships suffered by the North Sea pioneer divers, and so forth. An entire area of his work, that which connects him to Norwegian music magazines such as Nye Takter, initiates a dialogue between a series of images that explore and question?more than document and take as a given?the so-called alternative music scenes in Oslo and the UK. By looking at this Norwegian photographer pictures, this essay raises a series of questions such as what is the image of an experience? What is that instant, cut out from the temporal flow, which represents the totality of a scene? What is the sound of an experience? What is the relation between a factory?s sounds and the experience of labor or the sufferings of exploitation, between the roar of the sea and the sublime? When time is lodged in between the present and the time gone, what sounds and what images will evoke that past?
