We perform a phenomenological analysis on the use of pion N Delta(1232) alternative couplings in pion N scattering, within a single and well controlled dynamical model. We compare numerically results for the elastic cross section obtained by using the conventional couplings, already adopted in several reaction calculations, with those obtained with the so called spin- 3/2 gauge invariant vertexes suggested recently. Also, here we try to establish a connection between two commonly used parametrizations of the weak N--->Delta vertex and form factors and we study their effects on the determination of the axial coupling CA5(0), the common normalization of the axial form factors, which is predicted to hold 1.2 by using the PCAC hypothesis.
