Resumen:
In this study, two Mn-doped ZnO powders were prepared by mechanical milling, using MnOx and ZnO obtained from the recycling of spent alkaline batteries. The prepared materials were evaluated as catalysts in the glycolysis reaction of PET and the catalytic activity was associated with the optical and structural properties of the samples. Also, the reaction product‘s quality, BHET, was evaluated by different techniques. The novelty of this work is the use of metal oxides recovered from spent batteries as a catalyst in the glycolysis process of PET. In this way we propose the treatment and recovery of two highly polluting residues for the environment, batteries and plasticbottles.
