Resumen:
Top-down projections from the prefrontal cortex (PFC) to brainstem play a crucial role in emotional control. Recent evidence from our laboratory indicates thatserotonin (5-HT) controls the maturation of the PFC-to-raphe and PFC-to-thalamus synaptic circuits. 5-HT excess during the first two postnatal weeks leads to synapticexuberance and depressive-like symptoms. However, the mechanism underlying this synaptic developmental regulation remains elusive. To tackle this, we determinethe developmental trajectory of the PFC-to-raphe and PFC-to-thalamus circuits, exploring the role of the 5-HT7 receptor -mediated signaling in this process.
