We present a new method for preparing multidimensional spatial qudits by meansof a single phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM). This method improves previous ones thatuse two SLMs, one working in amplitude regime and the other in phase regime. To that end,we addressed diraction gratings on the slits that dene the state and then we performed aspatial ltering in the Fourier plane. The amplitude of the coecients of the quantum stateare determined by the modulation deep of the diraction gratings, and the relative phase is themean phase value of the diraction gratings. This encoding result to be more compact, lessexpensive and use the photons more eciently.
