Resumen:
This work presents a study of Parallel Aligned (PA) LCoS displays performance for their use to generate Diffractive Optical Elements (DOEs). First, we provide experimental evidences of two different physical phenomena, originated by the electrical addressing schemes used in LCoS displays, which degrade the efficiency of these devices. We refer to the time-fluctuations of the phase and the anamorphic phenomena. Besides, we propose different strategies to diminish the influence of these physical phenomena. First, a methodology based on the minimum Euclidian distance is proposed, leading to the minimization of the time-fluctuations of the phase influence. Second, by applying frequency dependent Look-Up Tables (LUTs) for the phase modulation, we demonstrate how the anamorphic response of the PALCoS display can be notably reduced. Finally, the application of these strategies leads to the best possible PALCoS display configuration in terms of efficiency. To show the significant improvement achieved on the DOEs efficiency, this optimized PALCoS display configuration is tested by experimentally generating diverse DOEs.
