Resumen:
Gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) is the most abundant inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervoussystem (CNS). A considerable amount of evidence showed the role of the GABA(A) receptor in diversebehavioral paradigms. We have already demonstrated that compounds that enhance the action of GABAimpair the consolidation and reconsolidation processes, and compounds that reduce the action of GABAhave the opposite effect on the context signal memory (CSM) in the crab Chasmagnathus. Our objective isto study the differential role of the GABAérgic system in acquisition, consolidation, reconsolidation andextinction memory in this paradigm. In particular, we are interested in the plastic modification of theGABAergic system as consequence of the different memory processes.
