Memory formation is a complex event which involves several internal changes that are manifested behaviorally. Gene expression, cytoskeletal reorganization and post translational modification of proteins are some of these processes. Particularly, acetylation of proteins is of our interest. We approach its study by performing a one trial inhibitory avoidance task in mice to evaluate the effect of lysine deacetylase (KDAC, also known as histone deacetylase, HDAC) inhibitors on memory formation.
