Resumen:
The ability to make predictions based on stored information is a general codingstrategy. Would this capacity imply an important flexibility to rewrite memoriesas a consequence of a permanently changing world? I would say yes becauseIn the last years, it has been shown that acquired memories can become activeand update their content or strength by the labilization-reconsolidation process. In this Lecture, I would like to show you first, results of the strengtheningfunction which has been at the core of our questions. Then, I want to analyzethe future avenues whereas strengthening by reconsolidation could also be atherapeutic tool for subjects with mild cognitive impairment or the mechanism incharge of the persistence of memories associated with anxiety disorders. Forthe former I present promising results showing how we can improve associativememories in mild cognitive impairment patients. For the latter, based on the rolethat threat-conditioning memory plays in anxiety disorders, the first step impliesa global approach analyzing the scope of disrupting threat-conditioning memoryreconsolidation of the implicit memory, its declarative contingency and cognitivebiases. Finally, I propose a deep discussion about these advances and theirpotential role in new therapies to treat maladaptive memories
