Resumen:
This study was carried out to elucidate the relationship between cystic ovarian disease (COD) and Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) gene expression in cattle. The expression levels of HSP10, HSP27, HSP40, HSP60, HSP70, HSP90a and HSP90b were evaluated by RT-PCR in normal and COD ovarian follicles. A lower expression of HSP10 and HSP40 was observed in granulosa and theca cells of cysts compared to normal follicles. HSP27 in granulosa cells was significantly less expressed in cystic and large antral follicles than other follicular categories. HSP60 and HSP90a were mainly expressed in theca cells of cysts, however HSP70 and HSP90b showed a lower expression in these structures than healthy follicles. A higher HSP90a mRNA level was evident in granulosa cells of the cystic follicles, but there was no difference in relation to the small antral follicles (p<0.05).
