In addition to the efforts to reduce the costs of renewable energytechnologies and electrolyzers, the development of suitablecontrollers are needed for cost-competitive electricity productionby renewable-hydrogen power plants. In this paper, a novel controlis proposed for a wind-electrolysis system, which match the windpower output to the electrolyzer power requirements, thus gainingin system performance. It basically consists in continuouslyshaping the power reference of a conventional maximum power pointtracking algorithm. Thus, high aerodynamic power conversionefficiency is achieved fulfilling at the same time theelectrolyzer specifications. This control strategy is developedusing concepts of the reference conditioning technique and of thesliding mode control theory. The proposed control algorithm isextremely simple, easy to implement and robust to parameteruncertainties.
