Resumen:
The emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) is thelargest extant penguin among living species breeding inwinter, at Antarctic high latitudes. Despite several studiesmade on this species, musculature and skeletal anatomy arebarely known, especially in non-adult specimens. To addressthis shortfall, dissections and comparative descriptions weremade on crania and mandibles of individuals of differentontogenetic stages: chicks, juveniles, and adults. The resultspresented here show significant differences in musculaturebetween the age groups, and the proportions between billand cranium also change along postnatal ontogeny
