Resumen:
Abstract The Brown Skua  Stercorarius antarcticuslonnbergi and the South Polar Skua  Stercorarius mac-cormicki, which breed sympatrically in the SouthernHemisphere, are diYcult to identify in the  Weld becauseof their similar coloration and external morphology.Although several morphological and biological aspectshave been previously discussed, no data have been pub-lished about their skeletal anatomy. In this paper we makea comparative description of the cranial and appendicularskeleton of both skua species. As a result, and althoughthe diVerences are small, it has been found that some char-acters of the skull and the thoracic and pelvic limbs, allow the distinction between S. antarcticus lonnbergi andS. maccormicki.
