From the Spanish-Indian contactat the late sixteenth century, the vernacular architecture of La Rioja valleyswas developed around three specific patterns. These patterns reveal thecultural crossover between human groups cited. Making use of natural resources,the technical resolution of these patterns was focused on the use of stone andadobe masonry and the wattle and daub techniques, known locally as quinchas,for resolving the walls. Roofs, meanwhile, were gentle slope and used, almostexclusively until the first half of the twentieth century, the techniques of theheavy and light cover.
