Resumen:
Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the human body, capable of decreasing levels of reactive oxygen species through various mechanisms, thus preventing oxidative damage in the cells. The latest advances have recently hightlighted the potential of the transdermal route for vitamin administration, though further study is required for clinical validation. Polymeric electrospun membranes with vitamin E were proposed as transdermal patches to promote skin healing. Biodegradable poly(ε-caprolactone) membranes with continuous porosity composed of homogeneous fibers with 1,2 m average diameter were loaded with different percentages of vitamin E, and applied to Wistar rats, over mid-dorsal wounds generated with punch technique. The skin scarring over time and the histological characterization were studied and compared as a function of dosage.
