Descriptores estructurales del fitoplancton de arroyos de

The relation among several structural descriptors of phytoplankton (total density, broad taxonomic groups composition, density of sensitive and most tolerant species, number of species, diversity, evenness and size structure) and the different types and intensities of land use and its impact on water quality was analized. Total density and the density of most tolerant algae to organic pollution and eutrophication increased with the deterioration of the water quality and the intensity of urban and industrial land use. These descriptors were the most closely related to the degree of human impact and can be considered as the most relevant phytoplankton descriptors to be used as part of the monitoring of the water quality and biotic integrity in Pampean Plain streams.
