The automotive industry in Argentina, a circular story (1920-2001)

The article has the objective of presenting a brief history of the Argentine automotive industry, relating it with the political, social and economic changes during twentieth century, considering that this is a very important step to understand the configuration of the industry in the next period. Besides, the paper aims to describe the different actors of the sector and their main characteristics. In this case I am going to focus in two of them: the companies of the terminal industry and those of the autoparts industry. The main hypothesis is that the characteristics of the automotive production at the end of 1990s are very similar to the ones that this industry had when it started at 1920 in despite of all the important changes during this decades. The research strategy is based on the sruvey of specialized literature.
