Resumen:
Circumbinary discs are often assumed to be coplanar with the inner binary orbital plane. However, recent observations and theoretical works suggest that misaligned configurations might be more common than previously thought. Interestingly, it has been shown that polar configurations | where the disc and binary orbital planes are orthogonal | are dynamically stable. In this work, we study the stability and the evolution of a single planet around a stellar binary (also called a Tatooine planet) for inclined configurations. Then, we test the theoretical predictions of disc alignment through 3D hydrodynamical simulations of inclined circumbinary discs around eccentric binaries. Our results show that | under some specific initial conditions | the circumbinary disc exhibits an unexpected behaviour. Namely, for retrograde highly inclined circumbinary discs, the disc breaks and becomes polar. Ultimately, the mechanism of polar alignment is expected to affect planet formation in these systems.
