Resumen:
In this paper are studied residential buildings in the city of Mendoza, Argentina (32.68º S.L., 68.85º W.L. and 827 m.a.s.l.). The most commonly spread is the typology called “Neo-Colonial Chalet” built with a very poor envelope. Usual post-construction changes performed by users to give habitability to this typology do not address the envelope and incur in a further consumption of non-renewable energy to supply mechanical conditioning. The objective of this work is to give users new options to adapt their homes enriching its interior-exterior relation through the envelope, making homes more liveable reducing energy consumption. Summer and Winter environmental envelope rehabilitation proposals are discussed. Conclusions give criteria of intervention and identify bioclimatic opportunities for rehabilitation.
