Resumen:
Coordination Polymers, defined as backbones building by the self-assembly between metallic ions and polidentated bridging ligands, offers a material with infinite compositional and structural diversity, low cost, and facile production. The possibility to synthesize these materials with genuine properties at the nanoscale allow obtaining functional nanoplatforms with application in theranosis [1], catalysis or gas storage [2]. During the last years, part of our group has been focused in the synthesis and application of the amorphous Coordination Polymer Particles (CPPs); from encapsulation and release of different drugs and active ingredients, to their surface functionalization [3,4]. However, our recent interest is focused in the study of CPPs as stimuli-responsive smart materials. The preliminary results in the synthesis and characterization of CPPs using different transition metals and ligands sensitive to different external stimuli (pH, light, temperature or reducing conditions) evidence the simplicity and quickness in the preparation of these new smart systems as well as the versatility and short response. The study of stability and release properties of these stimuli-sensitive nanostructures, in different conditions, shows a rapid and controllable response suitable to use them for bio-applications or industrial purposes.
