Resumen:
In recent years, late-sown maize has widely spread in thetemperate humid region of Argentina. However, this practice brought with it agreater pressure of diseases on the crop, such as leaf blight (LB) caused bythe fungus Exserohilum turcicum Pass. (Suggs). The aim of this workwas evaluate the effect of LB on late-sown maize grain yield and its componentsin two genotypes, three plant densities and three nitrogen (N) rates offertilization. LB severity increased with plant densities and with low Navailability (P<0.05). On the other hand, LB did not correlate with grainyield or the number of grains per unit area (P>0.05). However, LB negativelyaffected the individual grain size in the hybrid DK70-10VT3P at high plantdensity. While DK73-10VT3P, more susceptible to LB, showed no response in thelevels of LB severity when N rate was increased.
