Resumen:
Eatinghabits of two Evaniosomini species from Argentina are givenfor the first time, consisting of feeding ondecomposing pig and llama carcasses.Thinobatis profana Kulzeris transferred from Thinobatis (Pimeliinae: Thinobathini) to Vaniosus Kulzer(Pimeliinae: Evaniosomini) on thebasis of constant tribal level characters. The genus Thinobatis Eschscholtzis removed from Argentina andconfined only to coastal areas of Chile. The genus Achanius Erichson(including subgenus Ambigatus Fairmaire) is transferredfrom Edrotini (Eurymetopini of Doyen) to Evaniosomini based on the structure of the internal femalereproductive tract and mandible configuration. Achanius (Ambigatus)antofagastensis Flores and Aballay, new species, is described. These two species showedpreferences for microhabitat conditions and association withstages of decomposition, andshould be considered of potential forensicimportance for bodies foundin arid environments.
