Resumen:
The effect of colloidal hematite adhesion on the
electrochemical impedance of mercury electrodes was studied, using
water- ethanol mixtures for different alcohol concentrations and
electrode potentials. The impedance decreases as the number of
attached particles increases. The experimental results can be
analyzed in terms of an equivalent circuit, having a constant phase
element (CPE). The value of the CPE is directly connected with the
coverage of the electrode. A qualitative interpretation is proposed
in terms of the behaviour of the metal/hematite interphase when an AC
signal is applied.
